While “witches” are seen as dangerous heathens, “psychics” are seen as mostly harmless whackos. Women who talk to their crystals and see energy fields and auras.
And… those stereotypes, like most stereotypes, do occur. But the majority of psychics are practical, down to earth people who have acknowledged that the information they receive isn’t entirely explained by science. YET. The majority of us believe it’s just a matter of time before “psychic abilities” are explained and validated by science.
Most of us don’t believe in being the “chosen” ones or anything like that – we believe that all people have the ability to gain perception beyond the ordinary and, depending on our backgrounds, family life, and circumstances, some of us develop them earlier in life than others – but that any one can develop them.
Some psychics believe that you are born with a certain configuration of abilities and some of us believe that you are born with all of them and it is just a matter of what gets developed first.
Psychic abilities are like any other abilities – some come naturally to some people and other people develop their abilities through hard work and dedication. Just like writing or basketball or singing – we are all able to do these things but for some people they are easier and for others they are harder.
It is a MYTH that we only use 10% of our brains – we really utilize the whole organ. But we haven’t determined how the brain works things out. We still have very limited understanding of what the chemicals are, what they do, how neurons form, and where and why the brain decides to store them.
