Goop by Gwenyth Paltrow is it’s own special problem in the Metaphysical/Witchy community. While we would LOVE to have alternative medicine, holistic health, and energetic practices be more accepted in mainstream society… Goop is pretty terrible.

According to all reports, Goop was sued in civil court by the California Food, Drug, and Medical Device Task Force (go California!) in Orange County. While this is not a court-based decision (::sad face::), the settlement IS helpful in that, in addition to $145,000 settlement to be paid, Goop is now barred from:

“…making any claims regarding the efficacy of its products without possessing competent and reliable scientific evidence, and from manufacturing or selling any misbranded, unapproved, or falsely-advertised medical devices.”

Which is REALLY important. While Goop is still able to sell the Vaginal Eggs, it can no longer make medical claims without substantial evidence from actual scientists and medical professionals. Which is ESSENTIAL to protect humans from fraudsters, which SHOULD be important to all the alternative health practitioners out there.
