What’s New in CrowSong Lodge?

Well, hello there, friends!

Pull up a pillow and some refreshments and let’s catch up!

So… yes! The last time we spoke, I was getting ready to head to Readerfest! That was a crazy time….. For anyone who DID go to Readerfest and who did not see on social media that I was NOT going to make it, I apologize for not being there.

There were some personal issues, unrelated to me, and, as a result, I was no longer desired to attend Readerfest and asked not to come after all (though I was already 17 hours into my trip). As it so happened, I was spending the night at a friend’s house in Fresno at the time, and it all worked out very well!

In fact, my hunny and I were in the middle of trying to decide where in California we wanted to move to, and I was able to see for myself that Fresno ticked all of our boxes – his, hers, and ours!

So, exactly a month later, we packed ourselves and our kitties into a rental car and drove to California to find a new home to live in! We’ve been here for about a week now and are still looking for a place (the place we were told was a sure bet turned out to not rent to non-California residents). But, it is absolutely gorgeous now! And while my hunny is crazy stressed, things are actually pretty lovely!

The most AMAZING thing so far that both my hunny and I are somewhat fixated on is not the cooler weather, the bigger city, the excessive resources, the crazy number of people, the ridiculous cost of everything, but, instead… the TREES! Y’all won’t be surprised to hear that (see Grandmother Tree), but my friends in California are.

The lack of trees in the desert does not immediately strike one, but after several  years, it becomes this “splinter in your mind” – and it makes you a little crazy after awhile.

If you’re around abouts near Fresno, keep your eyes out for me or shoot me a message and lets hang out – and keep your ears open because things are about to get very fun!

Readerfest is Coming!

Hallo my friends! I am SO sorry for the short notice here! I have fallen a bit behind – and, as you can see, there’s a slight adjustment going on around here appearance-wise. Not a real redesign, just a features upgrade.

Anyways! If you’ve been following me on Facebook or Twitter, you know that I am going to Seattle, Washington this week! I am the Program Manager for a FREE and FAMILY FRIENDLY event coming up called Readerfest happening this weekend on September 9th, 2017! I will be announcing, working, and performing at the event, so please come by, check it out, and say hi! It is, again, FAMILY FRIENDLY and FREE down at Magnusson Park! For more information, check out http://www.Readerfest.com!

6-25-17: Tarot: Beyond Basics – Live Class in Casa Grande!

So, Sunday I taught the second Intro to Tarot class at The ApotheCraft shop located here in Casa Grande, Arizona. Have I mentioned how AMAZING Michele and lee and their shop is!? It’s beautiful and incredible! It has such a good energy and it’s a beautiful, calm, relaxing atmosphere where I feel completely at peace and at home. This is the PERFECT place to hold spirituality/new age/metaphysics classes and I am absolutely loving it!

My students on Sunday were amazing and they asked the most insightful and interesting questions – you can always tell the quality of your teaching by the quality of questions that you get, so I felt deeply honored that they asked such fantastic questions! I cannot tell you how much I am enjoying this stage in my life where I get to share all the stuff I’ve learned with people who want to learn it! It’s incredible!

And even better: the students asked when the next class would be! So, Michele and I chatted after class and we scheduled Tarot: Beyond Basics! That sounds like it could be the title to a Sharknado movie, but that’s perfectly suited to me and my style, so I can’t complain.

Check it out and remember to register early!

In addition, I have created the outline for the online Crystals class and posted it in the new Facebook Group I mentioned in the last post! I’m SO excited! I’ve got a lot of work to do, but it’s work I am excited and happy about, so I can’t complain (too much)!

Here’s the registration information for Tarot: Beyond Basics on June 25th!

Coming Soon – CrowSong Classes! First, Crystals!

Hi there, everyone!

First of all, I want to send out a BIG thank you to everyone who took the time to respond to my survey about what kinds of classes you wanted online. I saw some surprising results and some surprising confirmations of things I thought I only thought I knew. (Confusing sentence, but accurate).

As you may be unaware, CrowSong Lodge began when I experienced my first Jewish Community Center and saw the amazing classes they had available for the community. As such, these classes are going to be the foundation of the future CrowSong Lodge physical location. Please visit the About page to learn more.

What I learned from you kind folks, is that you DO want online classes, but they need to accessible and affordable. The topics you most want are:
1. Crystals
2. Tarot
3. Herbs
4.  Psychic Abilities/ESP

The LEAST popular ideas were those regarding the “Theories” classes – it makes sense that practical applications would be preferred.

I also found out that your preferences are for solo study with community access, preferably on Facebook. So I will work on setting that up! Let me know here (in the comments) or on Facebook if you would like in the new group I am about to go create! To begin, this will be a free group, but I am not sure about the future, so join now and shape the future of CrowSong Lodge!

Thank you, again, for your responses. I want to give you a sneak peek of what the first class on Crystals is going to look like. Here’s what I have so far:

Part 1 – Scientifically, why these “rocks” and not those “rocks”?
Part 2 – Lab created vs. Organically grown
Part 3 – How do gemstones affect energy?
Part 4 – Common uses for gemstones
     – Protection
     – Confidence
     – Love
Part 5 – Gemstones and the body
Part 6 – Gemstones and your home
Part 7 – Care and feeding
BONUS: Programming quartz
BONUS 2: Hagstones, pumice, sandstone, and “rock friends”
Guide:
– Color guide to gemstones
– Quick gemstones glossary
– Purposes of body parts
– Significant places in the home

I am REALLY excited about starting this project but I REALLY want to make sure I’m providing something that people want. So let me know how you feel about this and let’s do the thing! Thanks so much!

Online Courses Coming Soon – Looking for YOUR Input!

Hi guys!

So, if you know me, then you know I’ve been talking for YEARS about launching a formal collection of online courses in order to share all the information that is in my brain and get it out there. Information about animal spirit guides, energy work, magic, magic systems, philosophy, crystals, herbs, and a host of other things! I am FINALLY getting ready to do that, but I really want to know what you guys want in such a course. Hence, a survey! Please take 5 minutes to fill it out – I would REALLY appreciate it and it WILL help shape the future of CrowSong Lodge! Thanks so much!

Wow, It’s a New Year!

Framed SunsetWow, how time travels by so fast! It’s amazing that anything gets done around here, especially with my nose constantly in Facebook. It’s getting to be a bad habit.

I am currently VERY busy – those of you who know me know that I am working 4 businesses right now – Shamanism, Photography, Altered Couture, and Website Maintenance. Promoting, networking, and connecting in these various ways is a pretty busy task!

So, unfortunately, CrowSong gets left behind a lot. But it’s always my guiding light – my shining star. THIS – CrowSong Lodge – is where all those other things are headed. CrowSong Lodge is going to be a beautiful sanctuary that I can share with other people. It’s going to take a lot of resources to make it happen, so I’m working on saving those up now. In the meantime, I’m shopping future locations for CrowSong Lodge.

Rob and I have several places we’re considering moving to on a more permanent basis. The redwoods in California, the rain of Oregon, the mountains of Colorado, and the open skies of Nebraska. Once we get more funds in, we’re going to start traveling around to these various places and checking them out. Once we decide on a place, we’ll probably move there for a couple years before starting on CrowSong Lodge, just to make sure it’s really the right place.

It’s going to be a HUGE undertaking.

In the meantime, I’m interested in networking with people who would be interested in being part of CrowSong Lodge. Veterinarians, Horse Therapy leaders, Service dog trainers, gardeners, farmers, landscapers, artists, nutritionists, yogis, fitness and health experts, space designers, architects – CrowSong really is going to be a HUGE undertaking! And it’s in it’s very baby stages of being planned, so hang in there with me!

I’ve created a Pinterest Board as kind of a vision board for what I want CrowSong to be. It’s by no means comprehensive, but I love it so far. I’m adding it to a new page here at CrowSong on the web!

Thanks for coming on this journey with me – let’s make 2015 sparkle!

The Shadow Self per Clarissa Pinkola Estes, Ph.D.

I’m reading a wonderful book of women’s magic by Clarissa Pinkola Estes, Ph.D. called “Women Who Run With the Wolves”.

I’m loving it so far.

Dr. Estes has collected many stories from all around the globe, some familiar and some not, and included them in her book along with an analysis (she’s a Jungian Psychoanalyst) of what they mean in our culture and, specifically, the role that story and others like it plays in the lives of women.

Dr. Estes exerts that we use story as a way to learn lessons about the lives we live and we use the information in them to shape our futures. I always knew I loved stories. Not only do we learn what to do from them, but by hearing them and retelling them to each other we can create change in our lives and move past barriers we had been experiencing.

This is very powerful magic.

Awhile ago, I wrote about the ShadowSelf and what that means in our daily lives. I just wanted to share with you what Dr. Estes wrote. I quote:

The stepmother and stepsisters [in the story ‘Vasalisa’] represent the undeveloped but provocativel cruel elements of the psyche. They are shadow elements, meaning aspects of oneself which are considered by the ego to be undesirable or not useful and are therefore relegated to the dark. On one hand, shadow material can be quite positive, for often a woman’s gifts are pushed into the dark, hidden there and waiting to be discovered. On the other hand, negative shadow material – that which busily kills off or detains all new life – can also be turned to one'[s use, as we shall see. When it erupts and we finally identify its aspects and sources, we are made all the stronger and wiser.

When I read it, I thought it was a good reminder to visit and be familiar with your ShadowSelf. Those elements we hide there in the dark can all be useful and teach us many things, and sometimes there are hidden gems that we’ve secreted from ourselves tucked in there. Like going through your closet, you find many treasures that you forgot you even had and sometimes, you even find a new inspiration for a project long overdue.
