What I’m Working On Right Now
So, I’m trying to remember to post updates to my website more often – I usually touch in over on YouTube or via Podcast or just Social media, but I’m trying to get away from that so much and really focus things on my website more. Black Lives Matter
On May 27th, protests began in Minneapolis, Minnesota as a result of the murder of George Floyd by then-officer Derek Chauvin. As of today, June 9th, protests continue throughout the country and around the world. While George Floyd’s murder may have been the flashpoint, it is NOT the single, solitary cause. Black Lives in our country have been treated as less worthy for over 400 years – sometimes more overtly and sometimes more covertly, and always sytemically. I found myself chuckling bitterly at Twitter today when I saw someone commenting “thoughts and prayers” in reply to a news story about proper comeuppance. It’s ironic and bitter and appropriate that this phrase has become so clearly UNsympathetic when it’s the only thing offered by a large section of the populace in regards to large, preventable tragedies.
